How much money is spent when preparing for a puppy, not including the puppy itself?

I have summed up my prices to be about $300 for all the puppy things, not including the puppy itself. Plus I have a $250 rent deposit for my apartment complex. How long after receiving a puppy, 8-14 weeks old, will my expenses be cut down to only routine vaccines and emergency care? I am getting a black lab or yorkie. ( Both standard, no toys or teacups, lol) Any excess advice please feel free to share.
