He wanted a hug and i put him in his place was it the right thing to do HELP ME!!HELP ME?

I met a guy, about a week later we went out, talked on the phone about 2 times after the date. Then about the 3rd day aft. He text me & asked me for a hug. He said he needed a hug cuzz he was homesick I said well least you have a new friend he says does my new friend give hugs(to persistant) Now I have come to the practice of not being physical early or talking about it.. I told him that he says he understands but i have not heard from him why not!!! Has he not called cause i made a big deal out of nonthing?? Or he was slowly trying to get in my pants??
