Playstation>>TV?

Ok I hooked the ps3 onto my hd tv then brought it to my old tv and i hook it up to the tv which isnt hd and on av all i can see is a blank screen but when ever i turn the console on the screen flickers then it stays the same...i tried this with two other wires connecting tha ps3 on to the telly ....HELP!!
