Yucutan peninsula during low season?

My family is planning a trip to the yucutan peninsula (Cancun or Isla Mujeres are the most likely destinations) for sometime in mid-June. I did some reason and noticed that many people took their trips around January to March and I found no information on what it would be like to travel there in June. June is a great time for us because it fits into everyone's schedules and it's the region's low season (which means competitive rates and less crowds), but now I'm wondering if there is a reason why everybody goes there in the winter-spring rather than June. Has anybody been to Cancun/Playa del Carmen/etc. during June and had a reasonably good vacation experience?
