How do I get back on Caesars legions good side?

In fallout new vegas, How do I get back on Caesars legions good side? I killed the guy in the dog hat. Im only level 6 and now their random ains groups butcher me! Im currently unable to continue my game as im getting attacked regulaly and killed. (gameplay is allready on easy setting, im a scavanger more than a fighter)
